Wolves are closing in on appointing a successor to Gary O’Neil.

The transfer guru said in a post on Twitter on late Tuesday morning: "Vitor Pereira’s appointment has new Wolves head coach has been sealed today, as expected.

"Documents are being checked."

This is backed up by a report from the BBC's football news reporter Nick Mashiter. Pereira has agreed an 18-month deal at Molineux, and a fee of around €1 million has been paid to buy him out of his contract at Saudi Pro League club Al-Shabab. Pereira was due to travel to England on Tuesday, and there isn't expected to be any late hitches after negotiations went smoothly.

The 56-year-old should find himself appointed in enough time to take charge of his first match against Leicester City which is on Sunday, December 22. Wolves did look at other options which included former Everton and Manchester United boss David Moyes but it is Pereira who they have proceeded with.

Wolves under-21s are due to play Forest Green Rovers in the National League Cup on Wednesday, December 18, and so The under-18s team aren't in action until their league campaign resumes on Saturday, January 18.
