It could be argued that Enzo Maresca has been the best manager in the Premier League this season.
When Maresca was appointed by Chelsea, the club were in turmoil, having finished in sixth place and sacked Mauricio Pochettino, a decision that split opinion at the time as he was finally finding his feet at Stamford Bridge.
Jamie Carragher’s prediction for Chelsea was that they would finish outside the top six this campaign, labelling the 44-year-old as “really inexperienced.”
However, the Italian tactician has managed to turn Chelsea into title challengers, as they are just two points behind league leaders Liverpool, albeit having played one more.
Jadon Sancho lauded Enzo Maresca after admitting that his first impression of the former Leicester City boss was one that gave him a “good feeling” after he signed for the Blues on loan from Manchester United.
Now, Guillem Balague has revealed how Maresca coaches his players behind the scenes.

Enzo Maresca is “constantly correcting” Chelsea players in training
Balague, who wrote ‘Pep Guardiola: Another Way of Winning: The Biography” also explained how Enzo Maresca is “constantly correcting” the Chelsea stars like the Manchester City boss is known to.
The Spanish journalist revealed: “What is he doing that is a little bit different? Just concentrating on the players that he’s got and making them better and constantly correcting, something that Pep Guardiola is very famous for. Constantly correcting.”
“But also, looking after the players, giving them confidence and giving everybody a chance and that’s what Enzo Maresca is doing and it’s working at the moment.”
Enzo Maresca is “hands-on” at Chelsea, according to journalist Ben Jacobs as well.
Fabrizio Romano disclosed in October how Chelsea’s players view Maresca is that he commands authority and respect due to his clear communication.
Pep Guardiola said Maresca was the next Mikel Arteta in 2021
In 2021, Pep Guardiola tipped Enzo Maresca to become another excellent young coach like Mikel Arteta.
Guardiola said via BeanymanSports: “He showed he will become an extraordinary manager in the future. Extraordinary. I feel it. Like I saw it with Mikel Arteta, it’s the same way with Enzo, will be an extraordinary manager.”
“He helped to develop many, many young players, like I’m sure next season, he is going to help us.”
It’s safe to say that Pep Guardiola looks like he is being proven right as Enzo Maresca looks like the real deal at Chelsea.
