Back in 2011, an Arsenal player named Jon Toral rejected Barcelona. He then continues to look back at these moments.
WHAT ACTUALLY HAPPENED?
With a motive of following his idol and legend Cesc Fabregas, he arrived at Arsenal. He wanted to be a part of the Gunners squad.
He wanted to do something for the Gunners. Despite being Spanish, he had a massive choice between Barcelona and Arsenal back in 2011.
Now in normal situations, most of the players will not hesitate to choose the Catalan kings over any team. Any Premier League team won’t be enough for those.
He was a fan of Cesc Fabregas, who left his boyhood Barcelona to join the Gunners back when he was a youngster.
Eventually, Fabregas did return to the Spaniards with a blockbuster £ 35 million deal. He succeeded both in those clubs and became a legend for both of the teams.
Whereas Toral is now playing at an Indian club named Mumbai City. At only 29, he has left the dream and is now currently trying to cope up in the Indian tradition.
So, as an average player, he was not satisfied with his passionate club.
Jon Toral looked back at the decisions he made 13 years ago. He had limited opportunities in Arsenal.
So, he has decided to take on the Indian boots and try to compete in the ISL (Indian Super League).
His decision to take Arsenal over Barcelona proved that opportunities occur many times but golden opportunity happens only once.
JON TORAL FOR INDIA
Toral has said that he has been very restless. Football always gives opportunities and experience of other cultures.
During the prime Wenger days, Fabregas was the masterclass. Fran Merida and Ignasi Miquel were in the squad, and after that just signed Hector Bellerin.
Jon is a flop player. That’s a fact. His close friend Bellerin went to play for the first team to win three FA Cups in his 10-year journey with the Gunners.
In 2017, after having tons of loan deals with Brentford, Granada, and Rangers, he left permanently to join Hull City.
Despite having contact with the great Arsene Wenger, he never made a single appearance for the Gunners.
Now Jon has a goal of pursuing his career in the Indian league. With Mumbai, he might see a chance of winning a trophy.
Toral chose Mumbai after spending three years in a Greek club. It can be essential for his overall average career.
AUTHOR’S OPINION
There is nothing else to say about this individual. It can be viewed that he is not a good player. His idol was Cesc Fabregas who did the unthinkable.
He was a legend because he won almost everything with his nation, his childhood club, and his prime club. So, there’s no denying a massive difference between Fabregas and Toral.
Although he could not survive Arsenal’s intensity, he rejected a massive opportunity from Barcelona, which still intrigues me. This kind of opportunity only happens once in a lifetime.
But, now in Mumbai, he is kind of rebuilding a new statue for himself. In any kind of form, he can help the Indian club to win the league.
It will remain as a mystery that what if he joined Barcelona, considering his young days potential. Where would have he been now? I guess we will never know.
But I hope he wins in his life and can happily narrate his tale for the upcoming generations.
