Manager ‘fresh from unforgettable experience’ is ‘hot name’ for Southampton to replace Russell Martin

Sheffield Wednesday manager Danny Röhl is said to be in the running to become the new Southampton manager.

Sky Deutschland state the German is one of the top candidates to replace Russell Martin at St Mary’s. They also report the Saints have held talks with the Sheffield Wednesday boss, but the negotiations haven’t finalised.

Earlier today, claims from the UK stated Sheffield Wednesday are yet to approached by Southampton for Röhl.

Apart from the Championship side’s manager, Southampton are also looking at Ivan Jurić. That’s at least what TuttoMercatoWeb are reporting, and they state the Croatian is in the running for the vacant job at the Premier League side.

TMW’s title says the 49-year-old is the ‘hot name’ to become Russell Maritn’s successor at the English club. This is also mentioned within the report, without concretely backing it up.

Jurić has been without a club since AS Roma sacked him on November 10th. It’s to be noted the Serie A side had appointed him as Daniele De Rossi’s successor on September 18th.

The former Genoa manager is ‘fresh from an unforgettable experience’ at Roma and is now linked to the Saints.

Southampton are bottom of the table with five points from 16 gams.
