Sources: What Everton have told Dele Alli about a new contract as he agrees to train with Como

Everton have kept ahold of Dele Alli at Finch Farm despite his contract running out at the end of last season.

Dele has been training with the Toffees as he looked to make his return from a long-standing injury endured on Merseyside.

However, there has now been a big update over recent days surrounding the midfielder’s future.

After spending the first months of the season at Finch Farm, Dele will now train with Serie A side Como as he eyes a comeback to senior football.

Speaking to Everton News, TBR Football’s Graeme Bailey has shared just where Everton stand on a potential new deal for the former England international.

Everton open to new contract for Dele Alli

Just last week, Dele shared a video from Everton training having suffered a recent setback in his recovery journey.

Following Dele’s agreement to train with the Italian outfit, Bailey has told Everton News that the Toffees would be open to handing Dele a new deal.

“He is considering his options, obviously he feels some debt to Everton for them helping his rehab etc and train with them, but options are open,” he said.

“Como want to look at him – Everton have told him another deal is an option, but he is under no obligation.”

Cesc Fabregas has said Dele will only be training with Como as he looks to get back on track following a difficult few years both on and off the pitch.

But it seems as if the door at Everton is still open for Dele to potentially earn himself a permanent contract.

Everton have held Dele Alli talks with Tottenham

Having signed from Tottenham Hotspur on a free, Dele did not play the required number of games to trigger Everton’s payment deal.

Everton have an agreement with Tottenham over Dele if they are to offer the midfielder a permanent contract.

But there are now two big questions hanging over the situation with new owners set to land on Merseyside.

The Friedkin Group have their own plans for Everton, and they may well consider Dele not to be a part of those plans.

Perhaps the biggest question is whether Dele can return to fitness as he has had major issues over the last year when it comes to making a return.
