Napoli are eyeing a move for Aston Villa star Jhon Duran, with everyone at the Italian club ‘bewitched’ by the Colombian striker.
That’s [according to Il Mattino](https://www.ilmattino.it/sport/calcio/napoli_calciomercato_duran_aston_villa_ultime_notizie-8544606.html), who report that Napoli are putting the spotlight on the 21-year-old as they look for a ‘sidekick’ to Romelu Lukaku.
The newspaper state that Duran is currently at the top of Giovanni Manna’s, Napoli’s director of football, wish list despite him being focused on finding a replacement for Alessandro Buongiorno.
The Italian club’s constant search for talent has led them to Duran and everyone at the club is bewitched by the Aston Villa striker’s physique and speed. They’ve likened him to compatriot Duvan Zapata at his peak.
Any deal for him wouldn’t be an easy one as it’s explained Aston Villa don’t want to sell and any deal is likely to cost €35-40m at least. Contacts with Aston Villa intermediaries are already underway, though, and described as ‘frenetic’.
What that means isn’t made clear, so it’s not obvious whether Napoli are talking to Aston Villa directly or Duran’s agents. We’d suggest the latter and we all know from the summer how open they are to discussing transfers and pushing moves given the trouble that caused at the time.
Whether Napoli move definitively or wait until the summer remains to be seen but it’s certainly something to keep an eye on, with everyone at the club seemingly already in love.
