Arsenal transfer target is available for a reduced price from Man United

Former Arsenal transfer target Marcus Rashford has been put up for sale by Man United for a reduced fee in the January transfer window.

The consensus from Arsenal fans is that the Gunners need to be active in the January transfer window. They have not started this season up to the standards they've set over the last few seasons.

Of course, Mikel Arteta has not been helped by injuries or suspensions at the start of this season. Key players such as Martin Odegaard, Gabriel Magalhaes, Declan Rice and Riccardo Calafiori have all experienced their own periods out of the starting lineup.

However, if Arsenal wish to return to a former transfer target of theirs, then they might be saving themselves a pretty penny in doing so.

According to a report by Jamie Jackson of The Guardian, Man United will allow Marcus Rashford to be sold in the January transfer window. Sir Jim Ratcliffe is aiming to implement a new cultural reboot at Old Trafford and he thinks there can be no passengers.

Hence, Rashford will be sold as part of the reboot. It is even to the point where Arsenal could sign Marcus Rashford for a reduced fee, thus benefitting both Rashford and potentially Arsenal too.

However, it does come down to whether or not Arsenal would still like to sign Marcus Rashford. They have been interested in the past but not much has been said on their current interest. Looping Arsenal into this separate news from The Guardian, therefore, is merely speculation from a fan.

It would obviously be great from a fan perspective for Arsenal to sign Rashford. This is because he is a fan favourite at Arsenal, so it's always nice to rub salt into the wounds of rival fans.

That said, from a common-sense perspective, it doesn't make sense for Arsenal to sign Marcus Rashford. It is hard to pinpoint the squad role he would play, considering the left-wing flank is still up for debate.

Arsenal have both Gabriel Martinelli and Leandro Trossard battling for a position on the left-wing, so adding in Marcus Rashford to an already competitive position would be surplus to requirements.

Still, maybe it could give both players a kick up the back-side to perform better. It's not like the left side of Arsenal's attack has covered itself in glory so far this season, after all.
