Stephen Warnock claims Chelsea striker Nicolas Jackson still does one thing 'too much'

Chelsea frontman Nicolas Jackson is proving in the first half of the season that he’s got the qualities to lead the line for the club.

The Chelsea squad has some incredible depth this season, especially in the attacking positions.

While Christopher Nkunku is free-scoring in the cup competitions, Nicolas Jackson certainly holds the current position as the first-choice striker.

Jackson has now taken his tally up to nine Premier League goals this season after scoring in Sunday’s 2-1 league win over Brentford. Incidentally, Ben Foster loved Jackson’s finish versus Brentford.

The 23-year-old attacker can still be guilty of missed chances in front of goal, but he’s becoming more ruthless during his second year at Stamford Bridge.

Stephen Warnock flags Nicolas Jackson offsides

Sky Sports pundit Stephen Warnock is super impressed by the improvement in Jackson’s game. If there’s one criticism, he said that the Chelsea centre-forward is still caught offside too often.

Warnock told Sky Sports News: “I think Nicolas Jackson was raw last season. I think there was an element where we knew he was a good player, but could he put it all together? I think he’s almost enjoyed that pressure of people writing him off and he’s proven to people now that he’s a good player…

“He still probably gets caught offside a little bit too much, but as a defender, that’s quite a concern at times when you’ve got someone who’s not afraid to play on the shoulder.”

Jackson’s pace and movement is such a strong part of his game. It’s no real surprise to see him feature in the list of most offsides in the Premier League this season.

Nicolas Jackson ticks every box

Whether it’s goalscoring, creating or work-rate off the ball, Jackson ticks every box. At the age of 23, the sky is the limit for him.

Footballing icon Thierry Henry claims Chelsea’s Jackson is the real deal, which is some vote of confidence from one of the elite attackers to grace the Premier League.

Jackson’s already up to nine league goals for the season. If he can break the 20-goal barrier during his second year in English football, it would be some achievement.
