“Well Done”: Teddy Sheringham Praises Ruben Amorim After Dropping£50M Attacker Vs Manchester City

Teddy Sheringham has praised Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim after he dropped Marcus Rashford for the Manchester derby.

Rashford didn’t make the first team squad for United’s game against City on Sunday and it paid off as the Red Devils won 2-1 at the Etihad Stadium.

Ruben Amorim texted Rashford ahead of the game to let him know that he wasn’t going to be playing due to his recent form at the club.

This season, the attacker has struggled for consistent form as he has scored four goals in 15 Premier League matches so far this season.

Former United player Teddy Sheringham has been full of praise of Amorim for his bold selection call. He told Genting Casino: “It certainly lays the law down, doesn’t it? Only he knows whether it’s the players going towards the exit door or not. I think it’s a fantastic statement. I think it should have been done a long time ago.

“Rashford’s body language and demeanour have not been great and that is one thing that Manchester United supporters don’t suffer, and he seems to be the only manager that’s come in and put his foot down about it. So well done.

“If it’s the first time he’s done that and you got a text like that, it’d be like, yeah, come on, who’s got the manager’s phone and mucking about? But if that’s how he does it, that’s how he does it.”

Rashford linked with Premier League rivals after Amorim message

The 27-year-old has been linked with a move away due to the fact that he has struggled both for form and what seems to be morale at Old Trafford this season.

According to Football London, Rashford has been linked to Arsenal amid claims that he is set to leave Manchester United and play for someone else for the first time in his career.

The recent uncertainty surrounding his future at United, could force Arsenal to make a move and try to land a bargain with Rashford currently valued at around £50m.
