Chelsea star Mykhailo Mudryk has been handed a provisional suspension.

How Mykhailo Mudryk reacted behind the scenes to his apparent positive drugs test has been reported.

It was reported on Tuesday that Ukrainian winger Mudryk was informed of his failed test and provisional suspension by the Football Association.

The Chelsea star quickly broke his silence on social media as he stated he was 'shocked' by the news and declared that he would 'never knowingly use any banned substances'.

Chelsea then released a statement of their own, acknowledging the fact that the FA contacted Mudryk over 'an adverse finding in a routine urine test'.

The statement read: "Chelsea Football Club can confirm the Football Association recently contacted our player Mykhailo Mudryk concerning an adverse finding in a routine urine test.

"Both the Club and Mykhailo fully support The FA’s testing programme and all our players, including Mykhailo, are regularly tested. Mykhailo has confirmed categorically that he has never knowingly used any banned substances."

It continued: "Both Mykhailo and the Club will now work with the relevant authorities to establish what has caused the adverse finding.

"The Club will not be commenting any further."

As reported by the Daily Mail, how Mudryk reacted to his positive test and ban behind the scenes has been revealed.

It has been claimed that the 23-year-old is 'thought to be co-operating with his club supportive of his explanation'.

Mudryk last played for Chelsea at the end of November with his recent absence being put down as 'illness' by manager Enzo Maresca.

Earlier in the month, when asked about injury news before Chelsea's 4-3 win over Tottenham Hotspur, Maresca said: "The other one [to miss out] is still ill is Misha Mudryk and the rest are okay."

Mudryk joined Chelsea back in January 2023 from Ukrainian side Shakhtar Donetsk in a deal worth an initial reported fee of £62 million.

However, the winger has since struggled to live up to his massive price tag as he has only managed 10 goals in 73 matches across all competitions.

So far in the 24/25 campaign, Mudryk has three goals and five assists in 15 matches.
