Everton have told Dele Alli that a new contract is possible despite him being spotted in Como, according to Graeme Bailey.

While the Englishman is hopeful of proving himself to Cesc Fabregas and earning a contract at the Serie A club, re-joining Sean Dyche’s squad remains an option for him, despite Alan Myers calling the latest developments “odd”.

“He is considering his options, obviously he feels some debt to Everton for them helping his rehab etc and train with them, but options are open”, Bailey told Everton News (17 December).

“Como want to look at him – Everton have told him another deal is an option, but he is under no obligation.”

Everton contract on table for Dele Alli after Como twist

Things have not been easy for Alli, who has been trying to work his way towards full fitness after long-term injury issues that are well documented.

There is no doubt that the former Tottenham ace has been working hard to return to senior football, as evidenced by a training video he shared on Instagram last week.

It appears the 28-year-old is edging closer to making his much-awaited return to action. However, whether that will be at Goodison Park or elsewhere remains to be seen.

It would be understandable if the Toffees passed up on the chance to hand Alli a deal as they cannot guarantee him regular playing time amid what looks like another relegation battle.

Dyche’s side, though, seems willing to reward the player for his hard work.

Meanwhile, Como are not better off either as they are placed 16th in the Serie A, with Fabregas’ side sitting just a point above the relegation zone.

In other Everton news, these European giants have entered the race to sign a Toffees star in the January transfer window.
