Jarrad Branthwaite names his favourite defender of all-time as centre-back who really angered…

Everton fans will be hoping to see Jarrad Branthwaite play for the club for many years to come with big changes on the way.

The Toffees are heading into their state-of-the-art new stadium over the summer and have new owners on the way.

It is expected the Friedkins will complete their takeover this week following reported approval from the Premier League.

And the change is coming at the right time for Everton with Sean Dyche’s side battling around the wrong end of the table.

But there are still plenty of uncertainties including the future of Branthwaite who is a player on the radar of numerous clubs across Europe.

Everton’s Jarrad Branthwaite names Sergio Ramos as his idol

Real Madrid are showing a real interest in Branthwaite ahead of the summer transfer window as they eye young talent.

But the Spanish giants are not the only side with Chelsea encouraged to move for Branthwaite by former Everton player Pat Nevin.

Speaking on the club’s YouTube channel, Branthwaite admitted his favourite defender growing up was Madrid legend Sergio Ramos.

“I was thinking of someone who I watched a lot. Someone like Sergio Ramos,” he said.

“I watched him a lot in recent years. I didn’t watch all of the old-school defenders.”

Everton are interested in Victor Lindelof from Manchester United who could prove a smart purchase for the defence.

As is the case for a number of Everton players, Branthwaite’s future does feel as if it is up for debate ahead of the summer.

Ramos injured Liverpool’s Mohamed Salah in Champions League final

Liverpool lost the 2018 Champions League final to Real Madrid and they lost Mohamed Salah to injury through a challenge from Sergio Ramos.

Naturally, that has seen a great dislike towards the Spaniard grow from those on the red side of Merseyside.

Salt was rubbed into the wound when Ramos tapped Salah on the injured shoulder during an awards ceremony in the months following.

Everton fans will now just be hoping this is not a comment which comes back to bite them with Madrid showing an interest in Branthwaite.

It is claimed Everton want Branthwaite to sign a new contract but they are also wanting the defender to show he wants to stay at the club.
