'He's that good': Liverpool urged to sign £40m Premier League player after what happened on Saturday

Antonee Robinson has been in the spotlight of late after the Fulham defender’s impressive performance against the Reds on Saturday.

The 27-year-old defender became the first American player in over 30 years to register two assists in a single Premier League game at Anfield, with Robinson running riot against Liverpool in what was a thrilling encounter on Merseyside.

With Robinson liking posts after the game from fans urging him to join Liverpool, there’s a good chance that the former Everton academy star could be lined up as Andy Robertson’s replacement, with the Scottish international sent off against Fulham.

And former USA international Charlie Davies has now given his verdict on Robinson potentially joining Liverpool.

Robinson backed to succeed at Liverpool after recent performance

Speaking on Morning Footy, the pundit backed Robinson to succeed at Liverpool if a transfer were to happen next year, with Davies noting that the Fulham defender is now ready to play in the UEFA Champions League.

Davies said: “We already saw AC Milan try and get him a while back when he was still raw, but now he deserves Champions League football, he’s that good. The rumour is a thumbs up for me, Antonee Robinson could play his way into most teams in the world, he’s at that level.”

With an asking price of £40m according to the Express, Liverpool will have to splash the cash if they’re to bring Robinson to Merseyside, though after Saturday’s performance, the transfer fee could be well worth it given how dominant the USA international was down Fulham’s left.

And with Davies now backing Robinson to make the move to Liverpool, the ball feels like it’s firmly in the Reds’ court, with the Anfield side now having an incentive to move for the Fulham defender in 2025 as their successor to Robinson.

What Robinson alternatives have Liverpool been linked with?

Robinson might be the most fancied left-back option out there for Liverpool heading into 2025, but the Fulham defender is far from the only player the Reds have been linked with in recent weeks.

AFC Bournemouth’s Milo Kerkez has emerged as a target for Liverpool with the Hungarian international a player Arne Slot is fond of, with the youngster impressing for the Cherries once again this season.

With Alphonso Davies also believed to be on Liverpool’s radar, the Bayern Munich superstar would, to many, be the dream left-back signing for the Anfield side, though wages would be an issue regarding the Canadian international.
