It is now Newcastle United’s turn to be linked to one of Manchester City’s most valuable stars.
Newcastle United fans continue to live in fear about the prospect of Bruno Guimaraes joining Manchester City.
City were interested in signing Guimaraes in the summer but Newcastle insisted they would have to meet his £100m release clause.
Ultimately, City decided Guimaraes was too expensive, but their interest in the Brazilian midfielder has remained heading into 2025.
As City continue to target Newcastle’s captain, pundit Troy Deeney has now suggested that one City star should move in the other direction.

Jack Grealish urged to join Newcastle in 2025
Newcastle want to sign a winger in January and sporting director Paul Mitchell has plenty of targets on his radar.
PSV’s Johan Bakayoko is wanted by Newcastle, but the Magpies continue to wrestle with the Profit and Sustainability Rules.
With that in mind, it is unlikely that Newcastle would be able to sign a player valued at £100m just a few years ago. However, Deeney believes a move to St James’ Park is the right option for City star Jack Grealish.

When asked where Grealish should move to, Deeney told talkSPORT: “Newcastle, easy. There’s loads of teams, anyone outside the top four.
“Anyone outside the top four, he would easily go into and dominate, if he went to Newcastle, it would be considered a massive step down for him.
“But it’s a great club with a great fanbase and I think Jack needs to feel that again, feel that he’s loved, feel that the fanbase love him, but also he’s the man to drive them forward.”

Newcastle were able to hold onto Guimaraes over the summer, and club chiefs will hope to repeat that in 2025.

If that is the case, a move for Grealish seems extremely unlikely – and that’s before his fee and wages are even considered.
Grealish is reportedly earning £300,000 per week at the Etihad Stadium. Even if he took a significant cut, he would still be breaking Newcastle’s wage structure at a time where funds are tight.
