Chelsea FC are keen to sign one of their former players this January. They are seriously considering the move but have strong competition. But, they still have lead in race due to one particular condition.
The player in question here is Marc Guehi who came through Chelsea’s academy. The 24 year old did make his debut for Blues first team but was sold quickly. He joined Crystal Palace in 2021 and has developed into a fine defender.
Guehi has played 130 games for Palace so far. He is one of the best English defenders right now and is even a regular for national team. The 24 year old played in all games for the Three Lions in Euro 2024.
The Blues have started this season on a positive note. They are in very good position and sitting second in Premier League. But, one of the negatives has been their defence which they are keen to improve.
Chelsea keen to sign Marc Guehi in January
The Blues are reported to be seriously considering a move for Guehi in January. The 24 year old has been on the radar of Liverpool as well. Lastly, Newcastle United are also keeping the tabs on him as per TEAMtalk.
Despite the high competition, the Blues still have lead in the race. They have a sell-on clause included in the player’s contract which will allow them to sign Guehi on a discounted price. This is a major boost for Enzo Maresca who will love to add someone like Guehi to his side.
Chelsea do have a very good squad depth and hence will look to part ways with some of them in January. As far as defence is concerned, Colwill and Fofana are safe at the moment. Badiashile, Adarabioyo and Disasi have constantly been linked with away moves.
