Official: €150m Barcelona star named in The Best FIFA Men’s XI

FC Barcelona has always been a club that values and prioritizes the success and growth of their players. While the collective development of the team is always the first priority, a lot of emphasis is also put on each player’s individual progression. As a result of this focus, Barcelona players often find themselves as front runners for various individual awards and honors.

Perhaps no better example of this exists beyond Lionel Messi, the Argentinian icon who used to play for Barcelona and ended up establishing himself as one of the greatest players of all time. As a result of the success he enjoyed at the club and his own individual brilliance, he would often end up winning major individual awards.

However, with Messi no longer at Barcelona, the team needed a new face to step up. So far, it seems that 17-year-old Lamine Yamal has been the closest thing to come out of La Masia and try to replicate that influence at the club. Already a certified award winner, he has no plans of stopping.

Most recently, Yamal has been officially named as part of The Best FIFA Men’s XI for the year of 2024. This particular line-up includes eleven outstanding players who are recognized by FIFA as being the best players over the course of the last year.

For the 2024 edition, Yamal enters into this elite selection of players at the tender age of 17. This makes him, by a good margin, the youngest player on the team and one of the most impressive additions within it. Moreover, he is also the only representative from FC Barcelona there.

Over the course of the last year, Yamal has shown his calibre and his quality for both club and country. With Barcelona, he had his breakout season under Xavi Hernandez and continued to excel under Hansi Flick as one of the most prominent and outstanding players in his position.

Furthermore, for the Spanish National team, he was a crucial component of their European Championship-winning team in the summer. Following the win over England in the final, he was even named the Best Young player of the tournament as well.
