Marcus Rashford confirms he's 'ready for a new challenge' away from Old Trafford

Marcus Rashford has confirmed he's ready to take on a new challenge.

Rashford, 27, was left out of Manchester United squad over the weekend as they stunned their bitter rivals Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium. Rashford had to watch on from afar, and he's now admitted he's ready for a new challenge.

The Englishman told journalist Henry Winter: "For me, personally, I think I'm ready for a new challenge and the next steps...When I leave it's going to be ‘no hard feelings’. You’re not going to have any negative comments from me about Manchester United. That’s me as a person.

"If I know that a situation is already bad I'm not going to make it worse. I've seen how other players have left in the past and I don't want to be that person. When I leave I'll make a statement and it will be from me.”

Rashford added he'd "100 per cent" always be a Red Devil.

Rashford was left disheartened by Ruben Amorim's decision to drop him over the weekend, admitting: "It's disheartening to be left out of a derby but it's happened, we won the game so let's move on. It's disappointing but I'm also someone as I've got older I can deal with setbacks.

"What am I going to do about it? Sit there and cry about it. Or do my best the next time I'm available."

Rashford hit the 30-goal mark for United in the 2022-23 season but he has struggled over the past months, despite signing a lucrative long-term contract.

PSG and Barcelona have previously been linked with signing the England international, who had been tipped to leave the Red Devils in January. Rashford added: "I'm halfway through my career. I don't expect my peak to be now."

Rashford admitted he still harboured hopes of heading to the upcoming World Cup - but added he needs game time.

The United star was on the reported "no sell" list from INEOS over the summer, but their stance seems to have changed. And Rashford could be moved on as soon as the winter transfer window.
