We close out the group stages of the UEFA Women’s Champions League on Wednesday evening and our final fixture in 2024 couldn't be bigger as we host Bayern Munich.
A spot in the Champions League quarter-finals is already sewn up but there's still plenty to play for at Meadow Park. Should we extend our unbeaten run in all competitions to eleven matches and defeat the German side on home soil, we'll finish top of Group C.
LAST TIME AROUND
Bayern Munich handed us our first and only loss in the UEFA Women’s Champions League this season back in October.
We took the lead in the away leg through Mariona Caldentey before Glodis Viggosdottir levelled for the hosts before half-time.
Laia Codina managed to cancel out Sydney Lohmann's second-half strike after 64 minutes played until Pernille Harder ran riot. The former Chelsea forward scored a 13-minute hat-trick to secure a 5-2 victory out in Germany.
BAYERN SIT TOP
Alexander Straus' side are currently top of Group C with 13 points, but we trail them by just one point.
Bayern are also sitting joint-top in the Frauen-Bundesliga, having recently beaten Turbine Potsdam 2-0 with a brace from Carolin Smith. Since their league defeat to Wolfsburg in October, the German team have been on a strong unbeaten run, recording one draw in the UWCL against Valerenga and two draws in the Frauen-Bundesliga.
WHAT THE MANAGERS SAY
Slegers on Bayern: "We’ve spoken about it this morning as a team, we’re not going to give away the game plan in the press conference! One thing I could highlight is, for example, we concede from set-pieces and that’s something we want to do better tomorrow.
"I’m excited for the game! I think we’ve had so many different challenges as a team. The last two were the cold and surface in Norway and with a very short turnaround, we went to Liverpool, which is always a very hard game as well, another away game. And now, we get to play against Bayern Munich, top of Europe and we see where we stand. This is a new challenge that I look forward to."

Straus on us: “We want to show a good performance away at Arsenal. Our goal is to prove ourselves at this level and win games like these. We showed in the reverse fixture that we have the quality to hurt them.”
