FIFA The Best Awards 2024: Vinicius Junior, Aitana Bonmati win Player of the Year awards; Full list of winners

Real Madrid’s Brazilian forward Vinicius Junior won the 2024 FIFA The Best Men’s Player of the Year award during the FIFA awards ceremony in Doha on Tuesday. Barcelona’s Aitana Bonmati won the Women’s Player of the Year award for a second year running. On Tuesday, Vinicius won the men’s player of the year award with 48 votes. Rodri, who finished second, had 43 votes whereas Vinicius’ Real Madrid teammate Jude Bellingham ended up in third place with 37 votes.

Vinicius ended the season with 24 goals in 39 matches in all competitions, while also providing nine assists.

Bonmati, on the other hand, scored 19 goals and provided 18 assists in 41 matches for Barcelona in the 2023-24 season.

Manchester United’s Alejandro Garnacho, who scored a stunning overhead goal against Everton in the Premier League last season, won the Puskas award. Emma Hayes, the current head coach of the USA women’s team and former Chelsea women’s team manager, won the Women’s Coach of the Year award. She won the Women’s Super League with Chelsea this year before guiding USA to an Olympic gold medal in Paris.
