Juventus director Cristiano Giuntoli stated that he’ll try again to come to terms with Dusan Vlahovic on an extension in a couple of months after the end of the January window. He spoke to Mediaset before the Coppa Italia victory versus Cagliari.
“The relationship with him and his agent is excellent. We have decided to meet after the transfer market since he has one more year on his contract. We’ll look to conduct things in the best possible way.”
Giuntoli was also asked about Antonio Silva.
“It’s still early, and teams usually show their cards as late as possible. We’ll know more about it in early January.”
Vlahovic has been freshly linked to Chelsea and Arsenal by Team Talk. In the meantime, he has quickly mended fences with the Ultras after a spat and scored again.
The official took stock of the season so far.
“We started from scratch with many new kids and a new coach with a completely different football philosophy. We were playing very well at the beginning, then the crowded schedule and injuries caused some problems. It’s paramount to stay united and think positively. We’ll draw a balance in the end.”
Our Take on Vlahovic and Juventus
The sooner, the better, but they realistically have until June to negotiate. While the team has been longing to reduce his massive wages, it’d be surprising if they succeeded given his age and the natural progression of footballers’ salaries. Rather, they’d be lucky if he agreed to re-up at his current numbers without asking for a raise.
