Mikel Arteta will be looking to add another piece of silverware at Arsenal
Arsenal welcome Crystal Palace to the Emirates Stadium as both sides look to battle it out for a place in the semi-finals of the Carabao Cup. The Gunners, favourites to lift the competition, will be keen to make the case why they are exactly the bookies choice to win the competition while the Eagles will be keen to keep their momentum going after an impressive display at the weekend.
The hosts, who have not won the competition since 1993, will be looking to get a positive spin back into their form after back-to-back draws in the Premier League meant they missed two huge opportunities to close the gap on Liverpool's six-point lead over them at the top. Mikel Arteta will also be keen to add more silverware to his football CV having only managed to secure just an FA Cup almost five years ago having been in Man City's shadow all this time.
The Gunners have enjoyed a relatively comfortable run in the cup having faced League One side Bolton Wanderers and Championship club Preston North End so far in the domestic cup competition. It is an opportunity for the Gunners to get their goalscoring touch back after netting 15 goals in four matches in all competitions, they have only managed one in their last two Premier League outings which saw them pick up just two points from a possible six and cut Liverpool's lead to just two points going into Christmas.
Crystal Palace, however, will be full of confidence after they convincingly saw off arch-rivals Brighton & Hove Albion on their own home turf breaking a winless run of 1,391 days since beating the Seagulls. The Eagles have seen off Norwich City, QPR and Aston Villa as they look to secure a place in the semi-final for only the fifth time in their history and the first time in 12 years.
