Ruud van Nistelrooy’s unbeaten run at Leicester City came to an end on Saturday afternoon.
Newcastle thumped Leicester 4-0 at St James Park and it left the Foxes just two points above the relegation zone heading into the congested festive period.
Van Nistelrooy’s men were injury-ridden ridden and it certainly showed, with Oliver Skipp and Hamza Choudhury enduring a really tough afternoon in the middle of the park.
Leicester were completely overrun in midfield and had little to no threat in attack, with Abdul Fatawu’s absence notable.
Jamie Vardy was completely isolated up front and hardly had a sniff before being substituted just before the hour mark.
Clearly, January additions are needed with the current injury issues and a striker must be top of Leicester’s wishlist.
Although, the club could save millions by recalling one of their loan stars, instead.

Leicester should recall Tom Cannon
Steve Cooper allowed Tom Cannon to join Stoke City on a season-long loan in the summer transfer window.
Despite having limited options at Leicester, Cooper decided to offload the young forward and replaced him with Odsonne Eduoard.
Eduoard arrived from Crystal Palace for the year but so far, the signing has not worked at all and he could return in January.
Meanwhile, Cannon is absolutely ripping it up in the Championship, having netted eight times in 17 outings.
Stoke fans have been urging the club to sign Cannon on a permanent deal, though, such form will surely have caught the eye of van Nistelrooy.
Instead of going out and signing a £20m plus forward, Leicester should seriously consider recalling Cannon.
Leicester have past success in recalling loan players
Leicester have past success in recalling loan players.
In January 2019, Harvey Barnes was halfway through his season-long loan spell with Championship outfit West Bromwich Albion.
The jet-heeled winger was enjoying a really productive season so City took the decision to recall him to make an immediate impact in Claude Puel’s side.
Barnes went on to make 16 league appearances in the second half of the season and it ultimately saved the club millions in the January window.
Leicester should consider repeating that trick with Cannon.
