Eddie Howe says Lewis Hall has been a “real shining light” for Newcastle United this season.
The 20-year-old has started 15 of the Magpies’ 19 matches in all competitions and in November was rewarded with a senior England call-up. In the space of 12 months, Hall has gone from sitting on Newcastle’s bench to being talked about as one of the best left-backs in the Premier League.
When asked if he thought the statement above was true, Howe told NewcastleWorld: "Yeah, I think he's played very well this season. I think he has been very consistent, he's been a real shining light for us in terms of being the same Lewis regardless of home or away. For someone so young, that is not easy to do.”

Hall has come in for an increased amount of praise in recent days after he registered two assists in United’s 4-0 victory over Leicester City.
“I think his technical delivery this season has been outstanding in all phases, build-up phases, attacking phases, his final ball can improve but it was great to see him get two assists at the weekend,” Howe continued.
“I think defensively he's been pretty good, but I think there are areas he needs to improve and develop but he is certainly moving in the right direction. And for someone so young, how he has handled himself and the maturity he has shown on and off the pitch has been really high level."
Hall joined Newcastle on a season-long loan from Chelsea last year before the move was made permanent for an initial £28million.

Speaking previously, Hall said: “You’ve obviously got this obligation clause which could be triggered for the price that it is and you’d look at it and go ‘you’re not playing, what’s going on?’ As a fan, you wouldn’t necessarily know what is going on inside.
“Obviously I was aware of that but my focus was to keep my head down and keep working hard and keep learning from everyone. I had a great set of coaches always helping me whether I was at my best or not to help me improve as a player and get me to know the style of play the team plays.
“As I got more games towards the end of the season it helped boost my confidence. Going into this season, it has given me confidence to show why Newcastle have bought me.”
