There are not many changes expected in the FC Barcelona squad in the upcoming winter transfer window. However, the Blaugranes will still have a lot of work on their hands as they will have to get two of their players, Dani Olmo and Pau Victor registered with La Liga.
Furthermore, they also have several files open for contract renewals, as multiple players have their contracts expiring in 2026.
In this regard, the Catalans are quite clear that any player who wants to stay at Barcelona will have to renew his contract before there is only one year left to avoid the possibility of him leaving for free.
According to SPORT, Barcelona have sent two players, Ronald Araujo and Frenkie de Jong, a notice on these lines to warn them that they will be placed on the transfer market if they do not extend their contract before 30th June.
Negotiations with these two players have been quite complicated, but there is now optimism in both cases after the club talked with these players personally. Both of them want to continue playing at Barcelona, but they will still have time till the end of this season to make a final decision regarding their renewal.
There was a real concern at Barcelona about Ronald Araujo last season, as they could not arrive at an agreement on the renewal proposal they sent him, and the defender also had big offers for him. Furthermore, his relationship with Xavi was also complicated.
However, now, things have changed significantly, and Laporta himself has talked to the Uruguayan directly. The player himself is now clear about his willingness to continue at the Catalan club, and it is looking increasingly likely that he will reach an economic agreement and ultimately sign his new contract.
Similarly, Laporta has also met Frenkie de Jong, and let him know that they count on him for the next project. Despite his poor form, Barcelona are confident he can get back to his best and have also communicated to him that they do not only want to renew him because of his high salary but also because they blindly trust his abilities.
Thus, these two players now have six months to make a decision in this regard. If they do not arrive at an agreement with the club before the end of the season, they will be placed on the market next summer.
