Everton could sign Giorgi Chakvetadze in a deal which would leave Idrissa Gueye on the chopping block at Goodison Park.

The Senegal international has been an everpresent with the Toffees across two spells, making 25 Premier League appearances last season.

This sparked Sean Dyche’s side to extend the 35-year-old’s contract by another year, keeping the midfielder on Merseyside until June 2025 [Everton FC].

Despite a range of positive performances this campaign, the former PSG man could be on his way out after links to a new midfield option.

Although Gueye has been a great servant at Goodison, it could be time for a new era in the midfield ahead of new ownership and a new stadium.

This has seen the Toffees show an interest in Watford ace Chakvetadze who will compete with fellow Premier League sides Leicester City and Wolves for his signature [Football League World].

A “hefty fee” could be involved in a deal with the Championship side given that the 25-year-old is under contract until 2029

The Georgia international has been utilised in multiple midfield positions as well as on the wings but could suit a deeper role in the English top division.

This could see the former Hamburg man combine well with Orel Mangala in the heart of Dyche’s midfield in a dynamic pairing on the blue side of Merseyside.

As Dan Friedkin looks set to come in as owner, changes are coming and the signing of the Watford star could represent the first steps in the transfer market.
