Roy Keane's verdict on Marcus Rashford speaks volumes after Man Utd exit bombshell

Sky Sports pundit Roy Keane speaking

Marcus Rashford has admitted the time might be right to leave Manchester United - just days after Roy Keane came to the same conclusion.

The Red Devils academy graduate has endured an explosive few days at Old Trafford. It was previously claimed that United were open to selling him as early as January.

He was then dropped from the squad for the weekend’s Manchester derby win against Manchester City. And now Rashford has confirmed that he would be open to leaving his boyhood club.

Speaking in an interview with journalist Henry Winter, the United forward said: "For me, personally, I think I'm ready for a new challenge and the next steps. When I leave it's going to be 'no hard feelings'. You're not going to have any negative comments from me about Manchester United. That's me as a person.

"If I know that a situation is already bad I'm not going to make it worse. I've seen how other players have left in the past and I don't want to be that person. When I leave I'll make a statement and it will be from me."

And while Rashford has suggested that he could leave United, that was a situation that has already been hinted at by Roy Keane. Speaking before the clash with Man City, the former Red Devils captain said: “It doesn’t look good for him. A move for Marcus would suit the player – a new challenge for him.

“He’s been there a long time. When you’re at a big club and your attitude is not right – and it hasn’t been great recently – sometimes it’s good to part ways. He [Amorim] has obviously seen something he doesn’t like.”

Rashford, 27, has made 426 appearances in all for his boyhood club, scoring 138 times. He has three-and-a-half years left on his contract at Old Trafford.

But he could potentially be low on options should he aim to seal an exit over the coming month. French giants Paris Saint-Germain have regularly been linked with a move for Rashford but reports suggest that they have since cooled their interest in the forward.

And his preparations for his next game have been impacted. The Daily Mail report that Rashford was sent home from training on Monday upon his return to Carrington after his Manchester derby snub.

He was assessed by a doctor at the club’s training ground and was deemed to have a high temperature. United take on Premier League rivals Tottenham in the Carabao Cup on Thursday.
