Marcus Rashford was axed from the squad vs Man City
Marcus Rashford looks to be on his way out of Manchester United and two Arsenal icons have admitted that they would love to see the forward join Mikel Arteta's side.
The United striker has endured a miserable time at the club recently and his struggles were compounded as he was brutally cut from Ruben Amorim's squad for the Manchester derby on Sunday. While the red half of the city was left basking in glory following United's late 2-1 comeback win over Manchester City, Rashford was left facing the end of his long stint at Old Trafford as he confessed that his time at the club is coming to an end.
Rashford has been in a state of flux for some time at United. After impressing in the early stages of Erik ten Hag's tenure, where he hit 30 goals in the Dutchman's first season, his form has since dwindled with a hammer blow coming this summer when he was left out of the England squad for Euro 2024.
However, while many potential suitors such as PSG and Barcelona have been rumoured, Rashford's next destination could be a lot closer to home with Arsenal being mooted as an ideal fit for the 27-year-old. That's according to Gunners' alumni Bacary Sagna and Emmanuel Petit.

During a visit to his old primary school on Tuesday, Rashford told journalist Henry Winter that he is ready to spark new life into his career. "For me, personally, I'm ready for a new challenge and the next steps," Rashford said.
"When I leave it's going to be no hard feelings. You’re not going to have any negative comments from me about Manchester United. That’s me. I will always be a Red. If I know that a situation is already bad I'm not going to make it worse. I'e seen how other players have left in the past and I don't want to be that person. When I leave I'll make a statement and it will be from me."

Rashford has been tipped to join Arsenal
It's been reported that United are now ready to cash in on Rashford, who joined the club aged seven, ahead of the January transfer window. Former Gunners defender Sagna, speaking earlier this year, believes north London could be the perfect location for him to play his football.
"I would love to see Marcus Rashford at Arsenal. I think if you added Rashford to Arsenal’s attack, with the pace that he has, Arsenal would destroy the opposition," Sagna said. "Adding Rashford to an extremely talented squad would be a frightening prospect for Arsenal’s rivals. Rashford is so quick.
"I think Arsenal having Rashford would enable Arsenal to have more variety in attack and I would love to see Gabriel Jesus and Marcus Rashford in the same team, pressing with so much intensity. Rashford joining Arsenal would be a wonderful signing for the club and a real statement of ambition.
"He hasn’t been at his best, but when that happens you need support and a good environment to bring you back to your best level. You need your teammates and your manager to lift you up. You need people to believe in you."
Ex-Arsenal hero Emmanuel Petit agrees. He also drew parallels between Rashford's current situation and Kai Havertz's stuttering three-year stint at Chelsea.
"I know Kai Havertz has improved massively at Arsenal, but it's difficult to say whether Arteta could do the same with Rashford if he moved to the club," Petit said. "However, I have no doubt that Rashford needs a new start and I think Arsenal could be perfect for him.

"Would Rashford be good at Arsenal? Give me the paper, and let me sign it for him right now! Rashford in a good environment would be incredible for the Gunners as they all look miserable at United. I saw what happened with the fan and I understand his frustration, so if Rashford wants to leave, he's more than welcome at Arsenal and the door is open for him."
Rashford's culling from the derby day squad was, according to Amorim, based on the player's attitude and application. Rashford reported to duty at United's Carrington training ground on Monday morning, as per the Daily Mail, but after being assessed by a doctor he was deemed to have a high temperature and was sent home.
The striker still has over three years remaining on the £315,000 a week contract he signed last year but it's thought that United would be willing to accept offers of around £40million. With Amorim now expected to shape his squad it's looking likely that Rashford will not be a part of the Portuguese boss' revolution.
Explaining his decision to omit Rashford, and Alejandro Garnacho against City, Amorim said: "(It was) selection. We try to evaluate everything - training, performance, game performance, engagement with the teammates."
