"Please tell me he didn't say that" - Piers Morgan reacts to Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta's 'three trophies' comment

Piers Morgan cannot believe Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta's recent comments about his side winning three trophies. The British broadcaster appears to be embarrassed by Arteta's remarks.

After two strong title challenges over the last two seasons, Arsenal have had an undesirable start to this term's title race. The Gunners are six points behind league leaders Liverpool in third and the Merseysiders have a game in hand as well.

The north Londoners are set to face Crystal Palace in the Carabao Cup quarter-finals on Wednesday night (December 18), and this week marks five years since Arteta was appointed as Arsenal's head coach.

While he has rejuvenated the club and brought them back to fighting for titles, there has been some criticism over the Spaniard's lack of silverware. Arteta's only major trophy so far was his FA Cup victory in 2020. He has also won the FA Community Shield twice.

During his pre-match press conference ahead of the Crystal Palace clash, Arteta's number of trophies was addressed. He was asked whether this tournament was a great opportunity to fill his trophy cabinet and shut down his detractors.

The Spaniard replied (via Fabrizio Romano on X):

“One trophy? Well… Charity Shield also twice, no? So it’s three.”

British broadcaster Piers Morgan, who's an ardent Gunners fan, responded to Romano's post and wrote:

"Oh no… please tell me Arteta didn’t say that. 🙈"

The Gunners will face Crystal Palace again in the Premier League at the weekend (December 21) after their Carabao Cup encounter.

Piers Morgan urges Arsenal star to 'listen to' Thierry Henry's advice about his game

Piers Morgan has urged Gabriel Martinelli to heed Thierry Henry's advice about his game. Martinelli has seemed inefficient in front of goal as he's struggled to rack up the numbers this season. The Brazilian has scored just four goals in 22 appearances across all competitions.

Martinelli's performances this term have attracted criticism from many, including Henry, who believes the 23-year-old needs to use his pace more often and be direct. The Frenchman said:

"Martinelli's best asset is his pace, but he never uses it. When he is One v One and there's space in behind, he chooses the safe option and goes backwards. I would never do that. Then when Arsenal are in trouble, what do they do? Pass the ball to Bukayo Saka, every team knows this."

Morgan has urged Martinelli to listen to the Gunners icon's advice as he wrote on X:

"Thierry’s spot on. Listen to him @gabimartinelli…. he knows."
