Rashford further highlighted his intention to handle his eventual departure with professionalism: "If I know that a situation is already bad I'm not going to make it worse. I've seen how other players have left in the past and I don't want to be that person. When I leave I'll make a statement and it will be from me."
Amorim had earlier addressed Rashford's omission from the squad, along with Alejandro Garnacho, following their 2-1 victory at the Etihad Stadium. He explained, "It is important to say it was not a disciplinary thing."
Amorim emphasized that his decisions are based on various factors, including performance in training and games, as well as the players' overall attitude and engagement with teammates.
During a visit to his former primary school, Rashford shared his feelings about being left out of the derby: "It's disheartening to be left out of a derby, but it's happened, we won the game so let's move on."
Marcus Rashford has intimated a sense of resilience in the wake of recent criticism, expressing: "It's disappointing, but I'm also someone as I've got older, I can deal with setbacks. What am I going to do about it? Sit there and cry about it? Or do my best the next time I'm available."
The Manchester United forward faced scrutiny from ex-United player Gary Neville following his trip to the US during the international break, which saw him spotted at an NBA game in New York.
At 27, Rashford feels "misunderstood" and firmly states he harbours "no regrets" about his actions over the past nine years. He's looking to make a comeback to the England team, aiming for the 2026 World Cup with new coach Thomas Tuchel at the helm.
Rashford missed out on the squad for this year's European Championship hosted in Germany, where England made it to the final but were ultimately defeated by Spain.
According to reports from PA news agency, Rashford's interview was unexpected at Manchester United.
Ruben Amorim, the team's manager, is poised to discuss Rashford's recent statements in his pre-match press briefing scheduled for 9am on Wednesday.
