Jamal Musiala names Barcelona icon as his hero and favorite player growing up

There is no doubt that FC Barcelona have some of the most exciting young players playing in their ranks this season. Players like Lamine Yamal, Pau Cubarsí, Marc Casadó, and Pedri are all fixed starters for Hansi Flick and are performing at a very high level.

However, the Blaugranes are also attentive to the young players who are impressing in other clubs, and one of these players is Jamal Musiala, who has emerged as one of the best talents in European football in the last few years.

There is no doubt that every top club will want to have the Bayern Munich playmaker playing in their ranks, and this is also the case for Barcelona.

However, what sets the Catalan club apart from these other clubs is that the German himself has admitted to his affection for them and their legend Lionel Messi several times in the past.

As Fabrizio Romano has highlighted, Musiala has once again admitted his admiration for the Argentine superstar as he appeared in an interview with Sportbild.

The Bayern Munich star disclosed how he loved having shirts with Messi’s name on the back: “On the back of my shirts as a kid, the name was almost always Messi.” In addition to Messi, Musiala named another former Barcelona player whose shirt he owned: “I also had one with Neymar, but Messi was my hero, my favorite player!”

In addition to his affection for these two Barcelona legends, another factor that links Musiala with Barcelona is his association with Hansi Flick. It was the current Blaugrana coach who gave the playmaker his debut with the Bayern Munich first team.

With all these factors linking him to Barcelona, it would not be a surprise to see him wearing the Blaugrana jersey in the future. This could certainly be a possibility as his current contract with Bayern Munich ends in 2026.
