Newcastle United have not seen much of Garang Kuol lately.
It has been a tough 2024 for the Australia international, with Garang Kuol’s most recent loan spell at FC Volendam ending in disaster.
He was with the Newcastle United first-team over the summer, but was expected to leave the club on a temporary basis.
However, injury meant Kuol was not loaned out, and he has remained on Tyneside ever since.
Kuol returned in October to play for Newcastle Under-21s against Mansfield Town, and the 20-year-old has only played once more for the youth side since then.

The young Aussie has now been spotted again, as Eddie Howe’s players prepare to face Brentford in the quarter-final of the Carabao Cup.
Newcastle United have released photos from Monday’s training session, and Garang Kuol was involved alongside the likes of Harvey Barnes and Kieran Trippier.
MORE NEWCASTLE STORIES
There were also appearances from Ellis Stanton and James Huntley, two more Newcastle United youngsters who are yet to make their senior debut for the club.
Why Kuol trained ahead of Newcastle vs Brentford
While it is interesting to see Kuol working with the first-team ahead of such an important game, his involvement in senior training does not tell the whole story.
The pictures from the session only include senior players who did not start Newcastle’s 4-0 win over Leicester, with the likes of Bruno Guimaraes and Anthony Gordon not spotted. They were likely doing a recovery session ahead of the cup clash with Brentford.
The likelihood is that Kuol, Stanton and Huntley were merely involved in first-team training to make the numbers up, as the club were also without Sven Botman and Lewis Miley ahead of them playing for Newcastle Under-21s that night against Chelsea.
Training with the first-team will benefit Kuol, but it feels extremely unlikely that he is anywhere near making a competitive debut for the Magpies.
The fact he has not played much for the Under-21s is also concerning, and it is vital that he is loaned out when the January transfer window opens.
