Liverpool goalkeeper Alisson has sent a message of congratulations to Real Madrid forward Vinicius Jr after winning The Best Men's Player award. The Brazilian forward was one of the big winners at the awards after also being named in the Best 11 as Reds star Mohamed Salah missed out.

The Egyptian has been omitted from a host of awards, despite another record breaking season at Anfield in 2024. The 32-year-old scored 25 goals and provided 13 assists during the 2023-24 season and has already contributed 29 goal involvements (16 goals, 13 assists) during the rise to the top of the Premier League under Arne Slot.

Among the list of disappointment for Salah, he was snubbed from the running for The Best as well as the Ballon d'Or - which was won by Manchester City's Rodri - and the African Footballer of the Year with Ademola Lookman scooping the accolade.

Vinicius, who missed the trip to Anfield last month through injury, was left feeling aggrieved after he missed out on the Ballon d'Or to the Spain international. The fallout saw the 24-year-old, his teammates and Real Madrid representatives boycott the famous ceremony in Paris.

It was the second straight year that Liverpool players missed out in 2023 with the 2022 edition seeing both Salah and Sadio Mane nominated. Salah picked up just two points, finishing bottom of the 14 shortlisted while Mane charted sixth after his Reds achievements and the Africa Cup of Nations triumph.
