It’s fair to say that Nottingham Forest haven’t always hit the jackpot when it comes to the transfer market.
The Reds won promotion in 2022 and then proceeded to sign 30 players across two transfer windows, with a number of them not even playing for the club.
Forest have learned some big lessons since then and in the summer of 2023, some quality players were added – with some players still failing to hit the mark.
Last summer, however, Forest did make huge strides and it was really a case of quality over quantity, with the likes of Nikola Milenkovic and Elliot Anderson proving very useful players.
Now, the Reds have perhaps received the biggest compliment to date regarding their transfer business.

Alan Shearer and Gary Lineker make huge Nottingham Forest claim
The Reds are currently fourth in the Premier League after 16 games of the season and the team are finally looking up rather than over their shoulder.
That is all down to the transfer window, according to two pundits, with Shearer and Lineker holding a conversation on The Rest is Football podcast.
The conversation when discussing who has done the best transfer business went like this:
MORE FOREST STORIES
Shearer: “Do you know who has done well with transfers? Forest.”
Lineker: “Yes I agree, Anderson to name but one.”
Shearer: “Elliot Anderson has done well, I also really like Milenkovic, they’ve done great business.”
Forest will enter January transfer market
It goes without saying that Forest will want to continue kicking on now that the team are in a position to challenge for Europe.
The Reds need to stay focused on the football of course but behind the scenes, recruitment will be taking priority.
The likes of Milenkovic and Anderson are brilliant signings and that sort of profile needs to become the norm.
Evangelos Marinakis is an ambitious man and there is no way that he will be willing to let this huge chance of qualifying for Europe get away from him.
