Report: Why Chelsea decided not to sell Mykhailo Mudryk to top club last summer

Chelsea star Mykhailo Mudryk is currently provisionally suspended from action after an adverse finding was discovered in a routine drugs test.

The winger has confirmed via Instagram that he has been informed of the news, whilst denying doing anything wrong and hoping to return to action soon.

Mudryk has not been seen on the pitch in the last few games for Chelsea. Enzo Maresca stated that Mudryk had been suffering with illness.

The manager has frequently shown frustration with the winger this season, and this has perhaps resulted in the majority of his starts coming in the Conference League.

Chelsea didn’t sell Mykhailo Mudryk as they thought he could win the Ballon d’Or

It has been a trend of the Ukrainian’s time since making the move to Stamford Bridge that he has been unable to tie down a regular spot in the starting side.

There was talk over the summer that Mudryk could be on the move, with the Blues continuing to strengthen in the wide areas with the additions of Jadon Sancho and Pedro Neto.

However, they decided to keep hold of the winger, because according to The Telegraph they believe he has the potential to win the Ballon d’Or.

Mudryk feeling the pressure at Chelsea

An unnamed teammate of the winger has stated that it was clear Mudryk has been feeling the pressure of his big-money move to Stamford Bridge.

The Blues made a big effort to bring him to the club ahead of Arsenal, however have so far not reaped the rewards of the signing.

It remains to be seen if the Ukraine international will ever make it at Chelsea, however the quality of Sancho, Neto and Noni Madueke has made it difficult for anyone else to break in on the wings.
