Transfer journalist now says Newcastle United could be at risk of losing 'phenomenal' player in …

Transfer speculation around Newcastle United's top players is never-ending. Just as the media accepts that one star player is settled they move on to another one.

Although right now, Sandro Tonali, Bruno Guimaraes and Alexander Isak stories are relentless, with all three being constantly reported to be on their way out of the club.

It's nothing new, and the trio are still Newcastle United players as things stand and that's what matters.

However, journalist Dean Jones has been told that the future of one of those players is not so clear.

Bruno and Sandro are also being constantly linked with an exit from NUFC

Dean Jones has been told that Alexander Isak is 'gettable'

Speaking on the Ranks FC Podcast, Jones claims he has been told that Alexander Isak could be attainable for other clubs.

“I think Alexander Isak, this is the time to go for him. He should not be gettable, he shouldn’t be, but I’m told he is.

“I’m told that Newcastle are just not settled right now. There is a vulnerability about that squad whereby a few of their top players might be gettable when they shouldn’t be, and this guy [Isak] is one of them.

“He should have signed a new contract by now. Isak earns somewhere around £100,000 per week. Marcus Rashford meanwhile earns three times that amount. I would trust Isak in this Arsenal system way more. He’s been on their radar before.”

Losing Alexander Isak would be very difficult to recover from

Isak, hailed as 'phenomenal' by Pat Nevin on 5 Live, does seem to be a bit off his game lately. He's still scoring, but he's also missing chances you'd expect him to bury in his sleep, so something is definitely not right.

The rumours around his contract are likely unsettling, but he's contracted until 2028 and £100k-a-week isn't exactly pocket money, so he should just get on with the task at hand. That's usually the best way to get a payrise - earn it.

Losing Isak would be a bigger thing to recover from than losing Tonali or Bruno, however, so the club need to be sure they handle this right. Strikers are rare and don't come cheap, whereas we already have suitable back up if we were to sell one of our star midfielders.
