Details of Nottingham Forest’s contract discussions with striker Chris Wood have emerged. The front man’s current deal is due to expire at the end of the campaign, but the Reds are keen to keep him at the City Ground and have been in talks about fresh terms for the New Zealand international.
According to the Daily Mail, the club initially offered Wood a one-year extension. It is said the 33-year-old is keen for at least a two-year contract but is hopeful of an agreement being reached.
"Whenever it happens, it happens. It's not something I can control or worry about," Wood previously said when asked about the possibility of a new contract. "I can't let it affect me. These things take time and I just have to worry about scoring goals, winning games and doing well for this club.
"I still have ambitions and drive to play long into my 30s. It's how you take care of your body and how you take care of nutrition off the pitch, it's huge. I want to play for as long as I can."
As it stands, Wood would be able to agree a free transfer move to an overseas club from January 1. Full-back Ola Aina is in the same position and has also been in talks with the Reds about a new deal.

Wood has been in fine form of late and been integral to Nuno Espirito Santo’s side competing at the top end of the Premier League table. He has bagged 10 goals so far this season and is now the club’s all-time top scorer in the Premier League.
Nuno has certainly got the best out of the forward since he took charge Trentside, and Wood has said he enjoys working with the Portuguese.
"It's worked well so far and hopefully there's a lot more to come for both of us,” he said recently. “I've had a lot of great managers over my career and it's nice to have another one to add to the group.”
