Man United target Matheus Cunha appears to tease January transfer with Instagram like

Matheus Cunha has appeared to tease a move to Manchester United ahead of the January transfer window.

The Wolves forward has been in sensational form this season, having scored eight goals and provided three assists so far, leading to him being linked with a Molineux exit.

And with new Red Devils head coach Ruben Amorim looking to put his stamp on the club, this has fed speculation that Cunha could be top on his list of transfer targets.

The Brazilian has been a standout performer in a difficult campaign for Wolves, who currently sit 19th in the Premier League table, having just sacked head coach Gary O'Neil.

But despite Tottenham and a host of top European sides rumoured to be among Cunha's admirers, he now looks to have dropped a huge hint that Old Trafford would be his preferred destination.

In a recent Instagram post, the 25-year-old thanked fans for voting him Wolves' Player of the Month for November by sharing a series of pictures of him holding the award.

However, it wasn't the contents of the post itself which prompted many to speculate over Cunha's future.

The former Atletico Madrid attacker appeared to like a comment left by one fan on the post, which read: "Manchester United soon."

And this did not go unnoticed by United faithful, as the interaction was quickly picked up by various accounts and reshared on other social media platforms.

Many interpreted this as a sign that Cunha could be set to join the English giants, and quickly flocked online to voice their approval of the potential move.

One excited supporter uploaded a screenshot of the 'liked' comment on X, writing: "CUNHA WANTS US."

Another admitted: "Yeah I would take him in a heartbeat man."

Meanwhile, another was pleased by the prospect of Man United adding a proven Premier League player to their ranks, with Cunha also netting 12 league goals for Wolves in the previous campaign.

They commented: "I think he’d get straight into business. Already knows the EPL, familiar with the intensity."

However, some fans were quick to point out that Cunha's social media activity may not have actually been a sign of any transfer activity.

With United and Wolves facing off at Molineux on Boxing Day, other users reminded fans that the Brazil international could simply have been looking ahead to the clash.

However, it remains to be seen whether Cunha will be allowed to impress against his potential suitors, having just been charged with misconduct by the FA for his actions following his side's defeat to Ipswich last weekend.

After the Tractor Boys' late winner, he threw an elbow at a member of the Ipswich coaching staff, before removing the man's glasses and throwing them to the floor.

If found guilty of his charge, Cunha will face a minimum three-match ban, which would rule him out of the Red Devils encounter.

And while he will surely be desperate to prove his worth in front of Amorim, it is also unclear if Wolves would be prepared to let their star man go in January.

It was previously reported that the West Midlands outfit had promised former boss O'Neil that they would not cash in on Cunha in the upcoming transfer window.

But with Wolves agreeing to appoint title-winning ex-Porto manager Vitor Pereira as head coach, the Red Devils will eagerly await his stance on the possibility of the £44million recruit being on the market.
