Matheus Cunha in action for Wolves.
Wolves striker Matheus Cunha has sent a clear Manchester United transfer message to Ruben Amorim.
Manchester United-linked Matheus Cunha has hinted at his desire to depart Wolves and make the move to Old Trafford. Having made a sensational start to the 2024/2025 season, the Brazil international has been linked with a high-profile switch to United in recent months.
Though Wolves have struggled significantly, Cunha has scored eight goals and picked up three assists from 16 Premier League appearances. The 25-year-old ended a brief goal drought against Ipswich this past weekend, but Wolves were beaten by a last-minute goal which directly led to the sacking of Gary O'Neil as the club's head coach.
Following that decision, footage emerged of Cunha being heavily involved in a post-match brawl which appeared to show him elbow an Ipswich staff member, and then take his glasses. The FA have since put out a statement that stated he has been charged with misconduct and could ,therefore, be facing a significant ban.

Wolves have been firmly in the headlines over the last few days after those incidents, with the search to replace O'Neil also seemingly already over. A deal has been agreed for Al-Shabab head coach Vitor Pereira to take over at Wolves with his appointment expected to be confirmed imminently.
Cunha had a very strong relationship with O'Neil and it remains to be seen if he will want to remain at Molineux. Given his scintillating form - and the fact he could be perfect for Amorim's 3-4-3 system - talk of a United transfer has emerged with the man himself furthering those rumours on social media.
In a post on Instagram earlier this month, where he celebrated being crowned Wolves' Player of the Month for November, it has since been discovered that Cunha has liked a comment saying, "Manchester United soon [soon emoji]."
A January switch is a possibility. However, his likely retrospective ban could make United less keen to explore a winter move. The outcome of the FA investigation surrounding Cunha is yet to be known, but he could miss a significant period which would also deny Amorim to watch him close up when United play Wolves on Boxing Day.
