Newcastle United will don Sam Fender-inspired jerseys when they take on Brentford tonight.

In collaboration with the North Shields artist, the traditional black-and-white design will feature “Sam Fender: People Watching” on the reverse, the name of his highly-anticipated album set for release in February 2025. The 30-year-old - who cancelled his remaining 2024 shows yesterday due to damaged vocal chords - will headline three sold-out shows at St James' Park next year.

Fender performed two gigs last year to great success and will return to the home of his boyhood club, with over 150,000 tickets sold. Fans can bid on match-worn shirts sporting his album cover and all funds will be raised for the Newcastle United Foundation.

Peter Silverstone, the club’s Chief Commercial Officer, confirmed the “great match” between Newcastle, Fender and the foundation while announcing the one-off shirts. He said: “Newcastle United and Sam Fender have become symbols of pride for the region and play to global audiences.

“It's a great match, and it’s another opportunity to connect with Sam in a creative way which will excite our supporters and benefit the community. The anticipation for Sam’s concerts at St James’ Park continues to build and, not only does this allow us to promote his latest album, it gives us another opportunity to offer supporters a piece of Newcastle United history with the auction donations going to support the incredible work that Newcastle United Foundation continues to do across the region.”

Newcastle also confirmed a retail collaboration with Fender will be announced in early 2025. Adidas, who agreed a multi-million-pound deal with the Magpies earlier this year, famously created a mural bearing Fender’s resemblance to celebrate the partnership in the city centre.
