After a false start earlier this year, which led to a bit of a dramatic standoff, Chelsea have now agreed a new contract with Josh Acheampong, who, this time, has actually and officially put pen to paper on a deal good through 2029.
It looked like a deal had been agreed back in October, but for whatever reason, that agreement fell through. The resulting impasse lasted about a couple months, but by the end of November, the 18-year-old had rejoined training and by last week, had even made his full senior debut, starting at right back in our UEFA Conference League victory in Astana.
> “Very, very happy. Josh has been quite clear, he was with us in pre-season. I didn’t know him personally, but after two or three days that he was there with us, he really impressed me.

> “Since the pre-season I was trying to understand a little bit the situation with him in terms of contract and these kind of things. Now finally the club found an agreement with him and we are all happy because we are all convinced and sure that Josh can be a great player for this club.”
