Chelsea are only likely to act in the transfer market in January if the perfect opportunity presents itself to them.
Enzo Maresca has led his side to second in the Premier League in his first campaign in the top flight, while also topping the group in the Conference League.
Maresca has insisted Chelsea are not in a title race, and any business they do in the upcoming transfer window may reflect if the club actually hold that view or not.
Many believe they need reinforcements at the back if they want to fully reach that level, and a number of injuries have limited the manager’s options in the busy festive period.

They have previously been linked with the addition of Tomas Araujo from Benfica, with them showing interest in signing him last summer.
Fabrizio Romano previously said Chelsea were ‘in love’ with Araujo, and he certainly fits in to the club’s plans of signing the top talents in the games.
Romano has stated that the centre-back has signed a new deal with the Portuguese side, however it includes a release clause of £66m.
He said: “Tomás Araujo’s new contract at Benfica until June 2029 includes a release clause worth €80m.Chelsea and PSG both considered Araújo last summer, Crystal Palace sent two bids… but Benfica never wanted to sell him.”

Maresca has been consistent in naming Wesley Fofana and Levi Colwill as his starting pair at the back, however the former still has injury concerns.
Fofana is currently out with another issue, and there is currently no confirmation that he will be able to shake those issues off on a permanent basis.
