Report details why Chris Wood hasn't committed future to Nottingham Forest yet

Nottingham Forest striker Chris Wood has been in truly amazing form during the 2024/25 campaign.

The Reds talisman has bagged a brilliant 10 goals from 16 appearances and recently scored an all-important goal away at Manchester United.

Wood signed for Forest for £15 million and Eddie Howe didn’t want his striker to leave Newcastle.

He’s been a revelation since signing for the club in truth and bagged 15 goals in all competitions during last season.

Alan Shearer has raved about Wood this season and the 33-year-old is a player who is bang in form at the moment.

Wood is out of contract in the summer though and that is something of a concern for the Forest fan base.

Why Chris Wood hasn’t signed a new Forest contract yet

Some fresh details have emerged today regarding Wood and a potential new contract.

The Daily Mail claims that Wood is very keen to sign a new deal but that there is a reason that he’s not actually put pen to paper just yet.

Wood – on £100,000-a-week at Forest – is near the top end of the pay grade and would like to stay for two more years on Trentside.

However, the Reds have only offered a single-year extension at this stage with talks progressing.

Forest will have to get snappy with this one though as at the turn of the year the player will be able to start discussing terms with overseas parties over a move in the summer.

Forest have to give Wood the two-year deal he craves

Given his record over the last two years, Wood is going to be a wanted man.

Some Premier League clubs will almost certainly be circling and Forest can’t be putting their main striker’s nose out of joint any time soon.

Wood might be 33-years-old but he’s in great shape at the moment and isn’t showing any signs of slowing down any time soon.

The Reds can’t become the sort of club who lets good players leave for free and Evangelos Marinakis needs to ensure Wood gets what he desperately craves.
