Arsenal’s need for a new striker has been well-documented in recent months.
Indeed, Arsenal need a new number nine, and they have been linked with a number of centre-forward options.
Victor Osimhen is an Arsenal target, while Benjamin Sesko is appreciated by the Gunners too.
Mikel Arteta is a fan of Alexander Isak as well, and according to Dean Jones, speaking on the Ranks FC Podcast, a move in January isn’t necessarily off the cards.
Jones says that Alexander Isak is actually on the market in January, claiming that Newcastle are so unsettled and vulnerable that he could be pried away from St James’ Park.

Alexander Isak could leave in January
Jones shared what he knows about the £60m man.
The journalist says that this could be the time to go for Isak, and that he could well be available in January.
“One we’ve just spoken about, Marcus Rashford, I think he comes into the equation now, and the other one is Alexander Isak. And I think, I give the nod to Alexander Isak. I think Alex Isak, this is the time to go for him.
“It is, he should not be gettable. He shouldn’t be, but I’m told he is. I’m told that like Newcastle are just not settled right now.
“There is a vulnerability about that squad, whereby a few of their top players might be gettable when they shouldn’t be. And this guy is one of them, should have signed a new contract by now, hasn’t. Alex Isak earns somewhere around 100 grand a week.
“I’m not even sure it’s as high as 100 grand a week from what some people tell me. Marcus Rashford, meanwhile, earns three times that amount, and inconsistent to say the least. I would trust Isak in this Arsenal system way more.”
Alexander Isak compared to Marcus Rashford
As Jones says, Isak isn’t the only Premier League option being linked with a move to Arsenal.
Indeed, there’s been chat about Marcus Rashford heading to Arsenal, but when you look at these two players’ stats, it’s clear which signing Arsenal should be prioritising.

Games 48 44
Goals 11 28
Assists 3 6
Premier League games only
Isak has been on another level to Rashford over the past 18 months, and, as Jones says, his wage demands are likely to be much lower.
Of course, getting a marquee player out of a club like Newcastle isn’t easy, but sources are suggesting that Isak could be on the move next month, so this is certainly a situation to keep an eye on.
Arsenal have failed to score from open play in any of their last three Premier League games, so a new number nine should be top of their transfer agenda, and Isak would be a great fit.
Darren Bent reckons Arsenal should do all they can to sign Isak, and, in January, they may have their chance.
