To keep up with the demands of a club like FC Barcelona, coaches need to be at the top of their game. Until and unless they can manage to do just that, there is a good chance that the team could end up suffering as a result. For now, it seems that FC Barcelona are not exactly enjoying the best of runs.
While the blame cannot be put entirely on Hansi Flick for this slump, the consequences mean that even he must be held accountable. After all, whenever a top coach takes over at a club as prestigious as Barcelona, it is to be expected that he will have to answer for his team’s displays.
If the praise for the team’s performances can go towards him, so can the criticism that comes along with their less than ideal displays. However, perhaps the one thing that could help Flick out right now would be to have a familiar face by his side again.
According to SPORT, such a familiar face could arrive in the form of Thiago Alcantara. Beyond just being a former player of his, having enjoyed great success together while the Spaniard was playing his football at German club Bayern Munich, Thiago also helped Flick adapt to Barcelona initially.
Through his proficiency in both Spanish and German, Thiago was the perfect connector between Hansi Flick and the players at Barcelona. Moreover, given that he had retired just recently when he joined in the summer, the players saw him as a respectable figure who was also quite approachable.
However, in order to ensure his arrival, Barcelona and the club’s former player will need to sit down and negotiate the exact intricacies of his role at the club if he ends up joining. Previously, his role at the club was not one where he took any financial compensation and was simply there for personal experience.
Previously, there was some doubt expressed by the Barcelona coach himself regarding if Thiago would end up returning after his departure was confirmed. Yet, as time has passed, it becomes quite the likely possibility as things are beginning to align in that particular direction.
