Newcastle United attacking midfielder Anthony Gordon has expressed admiration for his Liverpool counterpart Mohamed Salah, insisting the Anfield club hero is the best winger he has seen in the Premier League.
The Magpies star saw a dream move to the Merseyside club fall through in the summer, but a future deal to join the Reds has not been completely ruled out for Gordon.
The 23-year-old was discussing the best wingers to have played in the English top-flight, and he did not hesitate to shower praise on the Liverpool star.
“I just think he is a machine,” the Newcastle star said about Salah.
“I just think to be at the top for so long the way he has, if you look at his stats from his first season he joined Liverpool, he’s been so consistently elite.
“I play in the Prem every week being a winger, I know how hard it is.
“I think he is starting to (get the credit he deserves). For me, He is the best winger I’ve seen in the Premier League.”
Gordon knows what it takes to play as a winger in the English top-flight, and it is unsurprising that he loves what Salah brings to the table.
The 32-year-old has 16 goals and 13 assists in 23 games this term, with a total of 227 goals and 101 assists in 372 games to his name in the Liverpool colours.
Gordon was already dreaming of playing alongside the Egypt international at Liverpool before the move failed, but Newcastle could still be forced to sell some of their big stars in the summer if they fail to secure Champions League football for next season.
However, whether the Reds will return for the Magpies man at the end of the season remains to be seen.
While he ended last term with 12 goals and 11 assists in 48 games to attract Liverpool and other suitors, Gordon only has three goals in 18 games so far this season, and it is unknown whether he will do enough by the end of the season to remain on their radar.
