Arsenal captain Martin Odegaard was full of praise for teenage star Myles Lewis-Skelly after he made consecutive starts for the side last week. The academy graduate was drafted in for the Gunners after a spate of injuries to senior players.

Mikel Arteta showed his trust in youth when he named versatile 18-year-old Lewis-Skelly in the starting XI that faced AS Monaco in the UEFA Champions League last week. The youngster made his full Champions League debut at left-back, starting ahead of fit-again Scotland international Kieran Tierney. Lewis-Skelly was praised for his performance in the game, earning the admiration of teammate Bukayo Saka.

The teenager was rewarded with a second successive start in the game against Everton at the weekend, prompting Odegaard to talk about his performances. The captain hailed the young left-back as a top talent who is ready for the rigors of first-team football.

“It was really good to see Myles Lewis-Skelly make his first start in the Premier League. It was a big week for him, because he also started in the Champions League as well last Wednesday. He’s done really well this season & is showing he’s ready for this level.”

“He’s up for the challenge & he’s getting the chance to show his qualities now. He’s a top player, he works really hard in training so he fully deserved his chance. He’s taking that opportunity now & it’s great to see a young player like him play with such confidence.”

Nominally a midfielder, Lewis-Skelly was drafted to play at left-back because of his impressive ball-carrying ability and technical security. The youngster did not disappoint in either game, playing over an hour on each occasion.

Lewis-Skelly is in line to make a third successive start for Arsenal when they face Crystal Palace in the quarterfinals of the Carabao Cup later tonight (Wednesday). The youngster has provided another option for the manager in the face of the Gunners' injury problems this season.

Arsenal linked with shock move for Chelsea star - Reports

Arsenal have been linked with a move for Chelsea midfielder Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall who has failed to settle at Stamford Bridge. A report from CaughtOffside indicates that the Gunners are interested in the 26-year-old midfielder for 2025.

Dewsbury-Hall moved to Chelsea from Leicester City for £30 million over the summer but has struggled for game time at the club. He finds himself behind the likes of Cole Palmer, Joao Felix and Christopher Nkunku in his preferred attacking midfield role.

Arsenal may have the perfect role for the Englishman on the left side of their three-man midfield. The Gunners are prepared to move for Dewsbury-Hall as they moved for Raheem Sterling, and will look to lure the midfielder with the promise of improved game time.
