Barcelona topped their UEFA Women’s Champions League group after sending Manchester City to a 3-0 defeat.
Khiara Keating tipped a Selma Paralluelo effort wide and an Ewa Pajor header over the bar, before being caught out of her goal by Aitana Bonmati but the shot was wide of the open net.
Esme Brugts was denied by Keating, so to Pajor a second time, while City’s Jill Roord hit the crossbar from 25 yards.
Barca made the breakthrough in the 44th minute, Claudia Pina whipping a loose ball into the bottom corner.
Only 20 seconds after the interval Pina brought a save from Keating, Pajor then saw her shot turned round the post but Bonmati got clear to knock the ball through the keeper’s legs.
That second goal saw Barcelona take top spot from Manchester City but they kept on coming, Bonmati smacking the bar and Alexia Putellas firing home from outside the box.
Cata Coll got down to make a late save from Leila Ouahabi and protect the 3-0 lead.
