Very sad news for Head Coach [Julen Lopetegui.](https://www.claretandhugh.info/lopetegui-not-going-anywhere-anytime-soon/) West Ham United’s club spokes person confirmed today:
“_West Ham United can confirm Head Coach Julen Lopetegui has returned to Spain to attend the funeral of his father José who very sadly passed away on Tuesday at the age of 94._
_The thoughts and sincere condolences of everyone at the club are with Julen, his family and friends, and we kindly ask that their privacy be respected at this time’._
_Lopetegui’s coaching team will oversee training during this period._
_The Club will be making no further comment at this time.”_
Of course, everyone at Claret and Hugh sends their own condolences to the Hammers head coach.
We understand that he is planning to return to the UK in time for West Ham’s home match against Brighton and Hove Albion which takes place on Saturday 21st December at London Stadium. For that, Julen Lopetegui deserves nothing but absolute respect.
