The Gunners had gone in behind at the break after Crystal Palace striker Jean-Philippe Mateta had struck inside just four minutes.
[Martin Odegaard](/topic/martin-odegaard) and William Saliba came on at the break as Mikel Arteta tried to change things, but Jesus turned out to be the hero.
The Brazilian confidently tucked away three goals and even a late Eddie Nketiah goal could not get Palace back into the tie.

Beaten inside five minutes, but then had little to do after that. Beaten late on by a stunning header from Nketiah.
Just feels wasted at right-back. Lacks the influence he has when playing midfield and final ball isn’t good enough out wide. Hooked at half-time.
Started the game at centre-back but was moved to right-back for the second-half. So much more effective out there.
Made a hash of Palace’s opening goal as he was bullied far too easily by Mateta. Must cut errors like that from his game.

Jakub Kiwior allowed Jean-Philippe Mateta in for Crystal Palace’s opener
Started for Arsenal for the first time since May last year. Had a good game, overlapping when he could. Created a great chance for Sterling.
Taken off at half-time as Martin Odegaard came on. Unlucky to be taken off as he was one of the better players in the first-half.
A classic Jorginho performance. So steady in the middle of the park and helped Arsenal dominate possession.
Still has some work to do and doesn't look quite right in the system at the moment. Better in the second-half when Odegaard came on.
Missed a glorious chance early in the second-half when Tierney’s cross found him at the back-post. Went close with a free-kick in the first-half and was lively.
**Gabriel Jesus** 9 | Star player
A dream night for the Brazilian. Had found the net twice all year before tonight - but scored a sensational second-half hat-trick. Majestic.
Better than he has been in recent week and one of those who helped raise the tempo after the break.
**Martin Odegaard** (Nwaneri 45’) 8
On at half-time and change the game. Created two of Jesus’ goals with some stunning passes. Captain’s performance.
**William Saliba** (Partey 45’) 7
Another half-time change and he brought some calmness to the defence.
**Myles Lewis-Skelly** (Tierney 69’) 6
On for the final 20 minutes and was steady enough. Should start this weekend.
**Bukayo Saka** (Sterling 70’) 7
Off the bench and made an instant impact, setting up Jesus for his second goal.
