Kieran Tierney will leave Arsenal in 2025, according to David Ornstein.

Rumoured for some time, the Scotland international now looks set to officially depart the Gunners. According to David Ornstein of The Athletic, Arsenal have decided against triggering the option to extend his expiring contract.

The deadline by which to exercise the option has passed and Arsenal will not offer Tierney fresh terms. This means that he will leave the Emirates in the summer at the latest.

Ornstein also suggests that Tierney could already be sold in January to generate a fee. Either way, he will be able to agree a pre-contract with non-English clubs in the upcoming window.

Tierney has been made aware of Arsenal's decision and he has suitors in England, according to Ornstein.

Tierney to leave Arsenal

Arsenal's decision to let Tierney go shouldn't come as a major surprise. The 27-year-old spent the previous season on loan at Real Sociedad and already admitted at the time that his Gunners career was probably over.

The former Celtic star has struggled massively with injuries in recent seasons and this has seen him lose his place under Mikel Arteta and become increasingly marginalised.

He recently returned to full fitness and has made several matchday squads but even the fact that he started against Crystal Palace in the Carabao Cup on Wednesday will do nothing to change that he is on the way out.

Tierney was signed by Unai Emery in 2019 for a sizeable €27 million but he hasn't played regularly for Arsenal since the 2021/22 season, with Oleksandr Zinchenko pushing him out of the team after his arrival from Man City.

It is too early to tell where Tierney will go next after leaving north London. However, FootballTransfers previously revealed that Unai Emery is still a big admirer of the Scot and has on more than one occasion considered him as as a reinforcement for Aston Villa.
